If you're a fan of Friends, you should know that Joey doesn't share food - especially his favorite food, which happens to be sandwiches.
Sandwiches are a classic. You can turn anything into a sandwich. All you do is throw ingredients on top of bread and voilà. I've been loving a good sandwich to munch on ever since I came to college, realizing there was a Jersey Mike's conveniently in my dorm building.
With all this being said, I have decided to use my platform to fangirl over different sandwiches every week. I call this segment of my blog "Sunday Sandwiches". Every Sunday, I will upload a new sandwich post and write about it. I can't take full credit for this idea, however. This article shoutout goes to Lexi Hidalgo on TikTok. Love your content, girl.
The first Sunday Sandwich I want to gush over is my breakfast sandwich order that I stole from my boyfriend, Kyle. What's the most fascinating about this sandwich is how the toppings are all hoagie-styled. Also, the gas station deli in my town is the BEST place to grab this breakfast sub. How beneficial.
Let me do the run down on how I place my order:
"Hi, may I have a bacon, egg, and cheese on a Kaiser. Salt, pepper, ketchup. Lettuce, tomato, onion. Oil and vinegar, please".
When I tell people this order, most look at me funny. I'm telling you, don't knock it until you try it for yourself. Walk into any deli and switch up your order. You'll confuse not only the person writing down your order but your tastebuds as well. Once you take that first big bite, the tastebuds will be having a savory dance party in your mouth.
I thought this sandwich order was odd when I first heard Kyle order it. One day, I forced myself to take a bite out of his. That's the day my palate changed forever, and I can't thank him enough.
Growing up a picky eater, I always struggled to step out of my comfort zone with food. I'm grateful that I'm finally growing out of that now that I'm in my 20s.
Thank you for tuning into the first of many "Sunday Sandwiches". I hope you try the breakfast hoagie and love it as much as I do. Be sure to like and comment on this article and don't forget to subscribe to As I Was Saying to stay updated on when articles are being published. Happy Sunday!
P.S. All I can think of right now is how I work every Sunday morning at a bar where we serve breakfast sandwiches and I'm assuming they'd be annoyed if they read this. Let me tell you that I've eaten the hoagie-styled breakfast sandwich longer, so deal with it.
